uhm, yeah, you know, hello world, back!

July 7th, 2008 -- Posted in ramble | No Comments »

I’m about as confused as that title probably seems. Yesterday i officially returned from The Off, and let me just say, wow, 6 weeks and the world is no longer the same! Kind of, at least.

The worst by far is PLURK. You already got an account? Friend me! peachyknits, as always. As in the side bar, over there.

the next thing, the new wordpress thing here, I just updated, and woah, me likes it!

I also didn’t knit, and since last weekend I’m frantically knitting away on the shawl for my mum (the Seascape Stole form the Summer Knitty, in a deep deep blue). I’m already ahead of my schedule, but still - the wrists are holding up so far, and I’m halfway done, so yay! This will also mean that I’m going to take some vacation knitting with me when Friday next week I’m off to Greece for a week! THAT kind of sneaked up on me, too, during the Big Time Out.

What else, well, we dyed up some yarn, and I wrote a freaking 200,000 words in June (and that is so gonna be published, in 2 book parts, and if I don’t get a cent for it! I don’t care! That story wanted out - as you can probably see from the speed. I mean a normal 300 page story is 75k - 100k. So go figure). Oh, I also got a teensy laptop for that. Linux finally ventured into my home. Let me just say, Ububtu rocks! But every operating system that calls it’s distribution names like Gutsy Gibbon and Dapper Drake has to rule, right? I just don’t like the Hardy Heron so much, but only like 99% to 100% of the others.

At the moment we’re watching Dead Like Me the whole timer - I absolutely LOVE that show!

That’s it from me for the moment - back later once I have pics of the kitting.

perpetrators, and such

i just wanted to drop by for a short note that indeed, I’m still around!

Having  decided to stop blogging about my whiny life (let’s just say that I told a friend today: I wish I were cloned from some petri dish so I wouldn’t have ton life with my biological parents. because something went so wrong there), there’s not much to tell anyway. Apart from 70.000 words, since may 1st. 2/3 of a book. meep ;)

But then I looked at the pics on my cam, and I just can’t keep them from you … cats, sky, forest, and the reason why I won’t be at the pc today:

perps.JPG

my 11 year old notebook (a really cheap thing - guess what, izt still works!), The Book, as in today’s mail, and my new Knitpicks Options Harmony Wood needles!!

I’ll just leave you with cat & balcony impressions.

or at least my day ;p

This here came yesterday:

socktopusapril

Socktopus sock club, April/May shipment!
I absolutely love the yarn! Don’t know if I will knit the pattern with this yarn, but both are gorgeous!

Also, my order for the Susie Hoodie came, also from Alice:

dicclassybox

Dream in Color Classy, 8 skeins in November Muse, 3 in Cloud Jungle (my must favourite colourway so far!). I’m thinking doing the cable blends in green, and the rest of the sweater in brown. Looks even greater in nature. :p

In wanted to start knitting the hoodie yesterday, but because I lack certain needle sizes I finally caved down, and ordered me some Knitpicks harmony interchangeables, this week on sale at the WollBox! I’m so happy!

There is no newly dyed sock yarn as it lies in tangles (bad, bad tangles) in a basket next to my bed so I can try to unknot everything during watching TV. I’m so happy they picked up Supernatural again, although we both decided to watch the latest episode with dusk not yet settled outside, and not during the night - yeah, I know, chickens! NCIS or The Closer makes for better nighttime watching.

I’ll leave you with some cat picks behind the seperator - there are a lot of them, and some people might not wanna see - just click the link, and enjoy!

not yet dropped off the earth, completely

I am dorky, we had a long weekend due to a holiday, and the man being sick today, I wrote a ton of words (metric, meaning like 40.000 since Thursday!), knit nada, spun nada, crochet next to nada, started on the second season of the Tudors, and am wailing (literally, ask man and cats) for The Book to finally come to my doorstep. To be specific, Jeaniene Frost’s second, one Foot in the Grave. I. need. this. book. re-read the first one during the last 3 days (without pulling another one-nighter, but it was a close call, and only headache really kept me sleeping), and I’m dorkier than ever. have a ton of new cat pics. And today got yarny love in the quantity of 13 skeins of yarn. And a mini-skein. pics, tomorrow. book? Hopefully Fri to Mon. Me needs this! Pathetic, I know. Just so you know why I don’t blog.

etsy update - now with extra sock!

And some cats to go with it:

Please mind the potted cat!

So I’ve been a little quiet of late. Much to do, not much to tell. That#s why you got two pics in the first place ;)

More to come later in the week!

Tee Hehe! Sweater, I will conquer you!

April 17th, 2008 -- Posted in ramble | No Comments »

Now, after nearly a day of contemplating which yarn to choose, I have committed myself to the Susie Hoodie from BGK2 - in Dream in Color Classy, colourway November Muse. I saw some awesome sweaters in that color on ravelry, and now I want my hoodie in that. It will be the most expensive sweater ever, but then it will be worth 3 times that if the sweater fits, and I’m sure it will, and is worn until disassembly. Which I’m also sure of. So I guess in 2 weeks, when the yarn is here (I got it from Alice of Socktopus again, and she’ll be shipping once she’s back in Europe, 24th or so) I’ll have no other excute anymore, and will embark on my first sweater-to-fit (again). Yay!

I did contemplate knitting it in the Wollmeise worsted yarn, but I’d need that first, and I’d rather knit scarves in those luscious colours. until then I’m going to keep my wrists still to be able to knit the sweater then!

itching to knit

April 16th, 2008 -- Posted in ramble | No Comments »

So now I have a problem. I want to knit, again.

Obviously, since I took up dyeing and sewing, my wrists are next to normal. knit a sock, and be in hell for three days (not including the days spent knitting that sock).  Also obviously, knitting a sweater will go a lot smoother on my wrists than socks, but still … I should not. Knit I mean. But now I have to!

because of this book - more big girl knits, by Jillian Moreno and Amy Singer. Seriously!

I’ve been waiting for the book to arrive since I first read that Amy and Jillian are working on the follow-up title of the first book. And now it is here! Thanks to Miss V I also realized that it is out already … see, ignorance keeps me from knitting, too. But no more …

I absolutely love this book. I can see myself in every single pattern, and I think I’ll have to knit at least 5 of the sweaters.  Best start today so I can actually wear them before the summer heat really peeks up. Damn!

I owe you some

Seriously!

First off, all praise and thanks to you great guys regarding my etsy shop! I had another purchase just after midnight (already shipped, thanks so much Anni!!

I finally realized that what the spinning world needs is a Spinner’s Bag (like a Knitting Bag, but for carrying and attaching to the wheel so that roaming hoardes of cats can’t steal unspun roving!!) - and today, this going to be designed.

I was also asked to contribute a sock pattern to an upcoming L&V book (ya know, you don’t have this from me, but there will not be a book, but books!), because the pattern I designed 2 months ago (you’ll know more once I may reveal it) got the critique *so freaking awesome*, and while I can’t really knit socks at the moment, I’m in an all time high. I seem to have talent ;)

So, end of rolling in my infame. I was a bad girl. I mean some of you know that by their paypal account statement, others from recollections - there’s a reason why I stopped posting pics of the enormous amounts of fibre coming to my house! There’s a reason why I got the title of shop raider #1 ;)
But I’m part of still 3 sock clubs, even after dropping the sockamania plus subscription - I knit 1.3 socks this very year, I can’t buy sock yarn. Fibre is okay, though …

So this is what I got over the last, say, 2 months. I was good. In a bad kind of way, hehe.

First, some lovely fibre from Fibermonster - I reviewed her shop for the Chum, and like 3 minutes later bought me some, too.

fibermonster.JPG

Top: Pink Lady - Colonial Wool, Tencel Carded Fiber Batt
Left: Sweet Plum - BFL roving
Right: Bright Tangerine - BFL roving

So, how this came to be, you ask? I started spinning some BFL the day before from Mandie, and then I was for eternity spoiled by the biffle. And until now I haven’t yet bought a batt. So all in some sort of way accounted for, right? And just loooook at the colours!!

Next, I was bad last week and fell into the eternally open trap that is Pigeonroof Studios - Love her roving, love her yarn, love everything!

pigeonroof2.JPG

Left (2): Algae
Right (1): Green Ocean

There are at least another 10 colourways of her that I need to have, and I gotta catch ‘em all, one day!

Next, the less guilt-ridden stuff, belonging to my still active clubs:

First, the February Socktopus Club Yarn:

socktopusclub2.JPG

Shelridge Farm Soft Touch Handpainted Ultra in Arcade Fire, 2 skeins
Came with great sock blockers, a beautiful sock pattern, and great music! My favourite sock club ever. This one I will keep for sure!

Also in the mail was this:

zenharmonymarch.JPG

Zen Yarn Garden Harmony sock yarn club, colourway Sun Kiss (merino/tencel)

My by far most favourite yarn of Roxanne’s ever! She’s knitting Hederas at the moment with it, and I might totally be a copycat! Or design my next own pattern for that yarn. oooh, I love the tencel …

And last but not least - my very own first ever sock yarn!

firstsockyarncone.JPG

That’s dip dyed, and I’m doing a test knit at the moment to see if I should get that stuff dyed and ready for sale, or not (and how I best dye it, too). probably should peek at the tutorial Cookie A did awhile back.

So, I’ll leave you with another sentence that starts with “So, …”, and will venture forth on doing the pattern designing / cutting / sewing. And I should finally come up with a first draft of my new sewing column for the Chum, too. See, I’m all productive today!

wah!

See that? It’s MINE! Mine to SELL!

At the brand new etsy shop!

Indeed, I already made my first sale, and now I’m quite over my head because of it :)

I really don’t want to bully anyone into buying my yarn, but if you do, please leave me a note so I know you’re a reader, and I’ll add a little extra, k?

Now off to cure the headache with some good red wine :)
